Calling all budding artists and wannabe photographers, Dubai Design District is now offering you the chance to learn the ins and outs of a diverse list of skills.
The Design Quarter of d3 is holding complimentary creative workshops on a weekly basis for adults and children to touch up on their brush strokes or to learn a completely new art technique.
Taking place in Building 5, each session teaches a unique area of art, headed by different art organisations, including Tashkeel, The Jamjar, Reem Al Awadhi and Jaffat Al Aqlam.
Tomorrow (Friday July 20), kids aged four to 15 will learn how to create imaginative insects using wire, feathers and fabric. The workshop by Tashkeel will be taking place from 10.30am until 12.30pm.
Afterwards, from 2pm to 4pm, students of all ages can look forward to the Movement in Photography session, posing the question: “how can we create a deeper sense of the vibrancy of a place through motion?” Deep and intriguing stuff.
The class will look at text and images of architectural spaces and places, discussing the values found in them.
On Saturday July 28 from 4pm until 7pm, adults can look forward to learning hidden tricks and techniques of painting in a Watercolours for Beginners session by Reem Alawadhi.
Other classes include Fantastic Portraits and Sun, Sea and Salt by The Jamjar, Book Binding and Painting or Altered Realities by Jaffat Al Aqlam, along with Drawing from Memory by Tashkeel.

The district’s retailers and eateries will be open during the weekends too, so attendees get a bite to eat at venues such as in the trendy Akiba Dori, fancy French restaurant Chez Charles or the arty Molecule once class is over. It’s like high school all over again.
Want to go from working your brain to putting your body to work? Head over to The Warehouse Gym’s d3 branch, kitted out with a spin studio, the latest equipment and a huge graffiti wall as its backdrop.
