A giant new skate park has opened in the UAE with challenging obstacle tracks – and it's completely free to use.

Fujairah Adventure Park is open throughout the day and is made specially for skateboards, scooters, bikes and roller skates.

Spanning 1,800 square metres, the asphalt surface features obstacles for all ability levels and has a separate loop for kids.

The track is near City Centre Fujairah and is the first of its kind in the Middle East, having been built by Velosolutions which is behind some of the world's top skate parks.

Plans are also underway for the Red Bull Pump Track World Championships to take place at the track in September this year.

No longer just an activity for grungy teens, skateboarding is a sport going places.

Not only has the number of skaters grown hugely in recent years, but news that it will be included in the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo has proven it’s to be taken seriously.

Another great spot to take part in the activity is Bay Avenue Skate Park, which attracts all levels of skateboarders.

It’s quite small, and all concrete, but don’t let that fool you into thinking it’s easy.

There are ramps to drop in, ledges, rails and slopes to grind and it is accessible for all levels and ages.

It’s surrounded by lush green gardens and is quite hidden from the outside, but inside you’ll get excellent views of the Burj Khalifa.

We've also rounded up more brilliant places to cycle, skate and scoot in Dubai.
