The Dubai Mall
Time Out Says
The lattermost attraction in the trifecta of tourist destinations happens to be the largest mall in the world (by leasable retail space), and is home to some 1,500 retail, food and drink outlets.
Found in the very epicentre of Downtown Dubai, The Dubai Mall is, according to master developer Emaar “the world’s largest and most-visited retail and entertainment destination”, claiming that more than 80 million visitors walk through the mall’s doors every year. For context, that’s nearly a quarter of a million visitors every single day.
While there are plenty of opportunities to leave with shopping bags hanging off your arms like some sort of credit-activated clothesline, The Dubai Mall is about far more than quenching your thirst for new clobber.
There’s the world’s largest virtual reality theme park, VR Park, on the second floor that’s home to some 20 different games, experiences and VR rollercoasters (really). In addition, there’s the Dubai Ice Rink for some slightly chillier activities, child-centric edutainment centre KidZania, an enormous Reel Cinema complex, and the world’s largest indoor aquarium and underwater zoo.
Elsewhere, there’s set to be a huge e-karting track to open soon, while The Dubai Mall is also home to the largest Apple and Nike stores in the world.
Outside, you’ll find The Dubai Fountain, known around the world for its record-breaking synchronised dance routines. And, of course, those Burj Khalifa views.
