13 places to celebrate Oktoberfest in Dubai

Get out your lederhosen, it’s time to party in the city's biggest Oktoberfest festivals

Planning a trip over to Munich for Oktoberfest? Well, with the amount of venues prepping for spectacular celebrations just for the occasion all over Dubai, you may want to cancel those plans.

From a buzzing nine-day German extravaganza at Barasti (our Best Beach Bar of 2018, by the way) to delicious traditional grub to get your chops around at The Dome in Dubai Sports City, there are plenty of ways to get stuck in to Germany’s biggest hops festival of the year.

The time for German grub, lederhosens and oompah music is now, so check out our list to see where this year’s Oktoberfest in the city will take you.

Barasti


Germany’s biggest hops festival is coming to Time Out Dubai’s Best Beach Bar 2018, so you can bet your bottom dirham this epic nine-day event will be going all out to honour the occasion.

Running until Friday (September 28), Barasti will transform its tent into all things German, serving up a selection of traditional grub and some of the country’s best hops.

Foodies can take on proper German cuisine, including würstl sausages, along with a selection of hops.

Each night will feature live entertainment from traditional oompah band DDFK Oktoberfest Party Band – renowned worldwide for bringing an Oktoberfest party to life through traditional instruments and a line-up of the biggest classics and hits.

Biggles Pub
Have to time to spare before taking off? The annual festival at Biggles Pub in the Millennium Airport Hotel Dubai is bringing back the Oktoberfest vibes, serving up traditional specialty dishes paired with beloved German brews and music.

The ten-day event will be kicking off tomorrow (Tuesday September 25), with seating indoors and on the outdoor terrace with stunning views over the gardens and pool. It also has 17 screens for those who can’t miss their favourite sport, along with 40 percent off drinks in its happy hour from Saturday to Tuesday, 4pm until 8pm.

Brothaus Bakery-Bistro
The bistro and bakery at Steigenberger Hotel Business Bay is setting up a Bavarian-inspired tent in honour of one of Germany’s biggest events, with the culinary team whipping up some traditional grub and serving a host of popular German drinks.

It runs until Wednesday October 31, and Brothaus Bakery-Bistro will feature blue and white drapes hanging from the ceiling, along with plenty of space for families and friends to delight in a host of German banter.

Food and drink packages start at Dhs35, while you can also opt for sharing platters of traditional sausages for only Dhs85 along with a bucket of brews for Dhs150.

You can get your chops around münchener weisswurste, Bavaria’s famed white sausages, along with Austria’s traditional apfelstrudel (that's apple strudel if you're not fluent).

Emirates Golf Club
Oktoberfest is coming to Emirates Golf Club from Thursday October 11 to Saturday October 13 with a weekend packed full of Bavarian dishes and one stand-out brunch.

On Thursday, event-goers are encouraged to tuck into an abundance of Bavarian classics such as pretzels and savoury German sausages from 4pm until 1am. In true Oktoberfest fashion, there will be a live band from 8pm to get everyone in the celebratory mood.

Looking for a German-themed brunch instead? Starting at Dhs220, foodies can take on unlimited amounts of traditional dishes and a list of German hops, along with fun-filled activities for the whole family to enjoy. There will even be a dedicated zone for the little ones for them to run around in.

Whether you want to enjoy each evening in the cool indoor lounge or take on some al fresco dining, you can’t go wrong celebrating Oktoberfest here.

Grand Hyatt Dubai

The Grand Hyatt Dubai is once again putting on a huge Oktoberfest festival, so you can expect lively dancing, authentic German grub and a buzzing atmosphere as the massive tent transforms into all things Deutsche once again.

You can enjoy a pretzel in the air-conditioned tent from Wednesday October 10, when there will be a buffet, including a barbecue and soft drinks for Dhs199.

The celebration will run right through until Saturday October 27 with brunches every Saturday for Dhs249 with soft drinks and Dhs349 with hops and grapes.

True to its roots, you’ll be served by traditionally-dressed waiters and waitresses, and the band, Die Kirchdorfer, will be flown in especially from Munich for the occasion.

Soho Garden
The popular urban bar down at the Meydan Racecourse wants you to end the weekend with a buzzing Oktoberfest extravaganza – with four unique bars serving hops and a host of food trucks to satisfy your hunger for wholesome German grub.

What kind of grub, you ask? Soho Garden will be dishing out halloumi fries, mac and cheese and, of course, traditional German bratwurst. Better yet, guests will get a free Bratwurst when they buy two steins of German hops.

The one-night event kicks off at 7pm until 3am on Saturday September 29, with its resident DJ busting out house tunes from 8pm onwards. You won’t want to miss this.

The Balcony Bar
Want to celebrate Oktoberfest with views of the Shangri-La Hotel Dubai’s lush setting? The Balcony Bar is your go-to destination, featuring Bavarian-style bites such as traditional Weisswurst sausages and tenderised schnitzel, along with speciality German hops. The bar has already started its celebrations, and will continue all the way until the end of October.

The Dome
In this two-day epic celebration, The Dome at Dubai Sports City is going all out to honour all things German, and you could potentially get in for free.

From Thursday October 4 to Friday October 5, you can either join in on the Bavarian celebrations for Dhs35 or wear your dirndls or lederhosen so you can get in free of charge. Held at the fully air-conditioned spot, The Dome will feature a variety of food stations dishing out bratwurst, schnitzel and sauerkraut.

That’s not all, as guest DJs will be playing pumping tunes to keep guests partying into the night.

The Draft House DXB
Join in the celebrations of all things Bavarian in Dubai International Airport’s The Draft House with a pretzel burger and pint of German hopes for just Dhs135. Or, you can pull up your lederhosen and go big with a stein of German hops and pretzel burger for just Dhs165.

The Draft House is located over at Concourse D, Terminal 1 site, featuring 18 TV screens beaming out the biggest and best football games from around the globe for those who want to celebrate but don’t want to take their eyes off the game.

The Irish Village
This huge Bavarian bash is returning for a three-day weekend special, where Dhs300 per person will get you all the German hops, traditional games, prizes and (of course), songs that you could possibly hope for. Eins, zwei, drei, prost!

The Tap House
Fancy a host of traditional German favourites? If you head over to The Tap House until Sunday October 7, you’ll get a special Oktoberfest menu from just Dhs79 along with a list of different hops packages.

Guests can take their pick from bratwurst warm potato salad (roasted veal sausage served with warm potato salad), Currywurst and fries (chopped veal sausages served with ketchup, tomato puree and curry powder), Steckerlfisch (grilled fish on a stick), reiberdatschi and Sour Cream (Bavarian-style potato served with sour cream) and obatzda, pretzels and picked radishes (a delicious cheese and butter spread).

As for drinks, you can get a pitcher of German hops for Dhs99 or a bucket of five hops for Dhs175. That’s something we can get onboard with.

Vantage
Kicking off the celebration nice and early, the VantageFest started on Friday (September 21) and runs all the way until Sunday October 7, taking place daily from 11am to 2am.

In honour of Oktoberfest, the bar and lounge is slashing its prices on all its craft hops in half, which means a range of beverages hailing from Germany will be getting the 50 percent off treatment, along with every other type of hops.
