Settle scores by taking it inside at Dubai’s biggest party bar on October 17

Sumo wrestling fight night at Lock, Stock & Barrel

In the mood for a scrap? Ready to go Nurmagomedov on your McGregor? (Well, maybe not.) Good news – you’ve now got an acceptable outlet.

Lock, Stock & Barrel’s sumo wrestling rings have become a popular fixture at the bars’ Friday brunches (alongside bathtubs filled with beverages) in JBR and Barsha Heights, but now they’re taking it to a whole new level.

On Wednesday October 17, both branches of the renowned Dubai party bar will host The Ultimate Sumo Wrestling Fight, with the chance to win brunch for four and a bar tab worth a whopping Dhs1,000.

The bars will be holding simultaneous competitions, each with three rounds, including qualifiers, semi-finals and a final, with eight contestants battling it out in the inflatable ring, dressed in enormous, incongruous sumo suits.

Not sure what to expect? Well, we put the Time Out team in the ring to test it out – have a watch below.

(We wouldn’t want to find ourselves down a dark alley with that Aberdeen Angus.)

With the fights kicking off at 10pm, you’ll have plenty of time to make the most of the happy hour at both bars, which serves up two-for-one drinks every day until 8pm. You can also fuel up for your big fight with a mountain of some of the best nachos in town – just don’t blame us if you wind up with a sour cream-induced stitch.

Bring a band of mates down to support you, and get ready to rumble.
Free to enter. Wednesday October 17, 10pm. Lock, Stock & Barrel, Grand Millennium, Barsha Heights (04 514 9195); Lock, Stock & Barrel JBR – The Walk, Rixos Premium Dubai, JBR (04 392 7120).
