It’s back, and the views, almost three years on from its closure, are sure to be better than ever. Swanky 63rd-floor bar NEOS has finally reopened at Dubai’s Address Downtown, promising panoramic views of the city’s ever-changing skyline.
Promising art deco-inspired interiors, designed by New York design firm Meyer Davis, the open-plan bar returns to the ranks of the city’s best bars with views, looking out over Downtown and out to the surrounding neighbourhoods of DIFC and Business Bay.
Floor-to-ceiling windows allow visitors spectacular views of the Burj Khalifa – though you’ll need deep pockets to make the most of a night here. Mixed drinks start from Dhs60-70, running all the way up to Dhs2,600 for the most elaborate of its Royale range, though a glass of grape starts from a much more reasonable Dhs55.
That said, NEOS has reopened with a daily happy hour from 5pm to 8pm, which offers 50 percent off both drinks and bar bites, including a number of small plates for sharing (or scoffing all to yourself while your date’s distracted by the view).
Snacks and dishes are surprising in their variety, but market-standard (for a posh nightspot) in their price. Sure, there’s caviar and oysters, but a swish signature seafood platter (grilled prawns, teriyaki salmon, chermoula-spiced fish) comes in at Dhs200, while a, erm, chicken shawarma will set you back Dhs90.
Whether Dubai’s favourite street food will be city-beating here, we’ll have to wait to find out – but the views certainly top those of our best-loved backstreet snack spots.
Open daily 5pm-2.30am, happy hour daily 5pm-8pm. Level 63, Address Downtown, Downtown Dubai (04 888 3444).
