Breeze Beach Grill
An array of seafood and mixed drinks on the beach
Breeze has the top spot on the corner of Club Vista Mare, and as the name suggests, you’ll get a lovely wash of cool air lapping over you as you look out to sea from the sands of the beach shack.
We say “beach shack”, but this is unlike any we’ve come across on our travels. For a start it’s huge. But rather than having a cavernous feel, it still pulls off a cosy vibe thanks to the wood-panelled sofas as you walk in. Being indoors during winter is a little futile, though, so if you can snaffle one of the settees, pub benches or high tables on the patio, you’ll be far happier (though the inside option is great for when the weather turns).
Breeze is the perfect place to lounge while enjoying healthy eats with a Caribbean twist, as well as live music, shisha and remarkable views. As well as seafood and other grilled meals fresh off the barbecue, there’s also a range of salads and burgers.
The day-to-night transition is here flawless and more often than not you’ll find the venue bustling with people enjoying sundowners, whether that be to end a relaxing day or to gear up towards a big night.
Breeze is a popular weekend spot with regular happy hour deals and the sharing plates make it an ideal spot for groups on the lookout for a seaside soirée.
The vibe is relaxed and you’ll be just as likely to see visitors in their flip-flops and shirts as in brunch-wear and heels.
Open Sat-Wed 11am-midnight; Thu-Fri 9am-1am. Club Vista Mare, Palm Jumeirah (04 568 3000).
A mainstay on the Dubai nightlife scene with beachside seating and top views
One of the best things about Dubai is that you can always feel as if you’re on holiday, even if you’re not. Weekends, evenings – all it takes is a sunset, mixed drink and sand between your toes to transport you far, far away from your desk. And where better to soak up those vacay feels than Jetty Lounge?
After meandering through the lush gardens of the One&Only Royal Mirage, you’ll come across this wonderfully dreamy beachside spot.
Looking out onto the still waters of the Arabian Gulf, you will feel a million miles away from the bustling city.
If you get hungry during your visit, there is a pretty varied menu of snacks and more substantial meals. The majority of dishes, however, come as platters that are perfect for sharing during an evening seaside soireé, or polishing off yourself (they’re rather tasty).
Get here just in time for sundown, when the golden skies are just peeking through the Palm trees. Visually it’s a delight and we can’t help but love this spot.
Once darkness falls the place livens up. Lit up with purple and gold, the palm trees take on a tropical vibe. It’s cool, it’s classy and it’s more grown-up than some other beach bars (though that’s reflected in the prices). There are good happy hour deals to be found, however. Head here for sunset, order a drink and sit back in the comfy sofas. Work thoughts can wait until tomorrow (or Sunday).
Open daily 2pm-2am. One&Only Royal Mirage, Al Sufouh (04 399 9999).
A classy rooftop bar with views of the Arabian Gulf and Dubai’s skyline
What a view. That’s the first thing you’ll think when you walk into the Four Seasons’ stunning rooftop lounge. (Well, maybe, if your first thought wasn’t “Why have a swing seat and stick a sign on it saying, ‘No swinging’?”).
Other thoughts are likely to include “Gosh, this grape is actually quite reasonably priced considering I’m staring right at the Burj Khalifa from the roof of a five-star beach resort” and “Please can I move in?”.
This is a truly beautiful spot, with a great open space for mingling while taking in the Dubai skyline, alongside cosier, more secluded seating areas that offer a little more privacy (and optional shisha).
Though Mercury tends to get busier later in the evening, don’t pass up the chance to soak up the scene early, particularly closer towards summer, when you’ll be able to watch the sunset reflected back at you from Sheikh Zayed Road’s towering skyscrapers.
You’ll get two great views for the price of one here. In one direction, you’ll see the Burj Khalifa and in the other, you’ll be looking out over the Arabian Gulf. The rooftop bar offers a mix of the old and the new, with Arabesque architecture and a futuristic, orb-shaped bar.
A great place for visitors (and anyone pretending to be one).
