Lucky brunch at Lucky Voice
A party brunch to end all party brunches. Grab the mic, now
If you love belting out a few tunes and chowing down on a few bar snacks, then the Lucky Brunch is the perfect introduction to the high-fun –and equally high decibel – karaoke venue Lucky Voice.
Make sure you book early for all the fun that’s on offer, because you’ll be disappointed if you miss it. This is the party brunch to end all party brunches.
It’s loud, it’s lively, it’s a whole load of fun – and it’s time to bring out that inner Beyoncé. The good news is it’s a lip-sync battle – so you don’t have to have a stunning voice, just some confidence.
No pressure though, taking part in the challenge isn’t mandatory, so if you’d rather studiously eat a bowl of chips than show off your diva side, that’s equally fine.
The food, as you’d expect, isn’t what you’re here for, but it’s good enough for the setting. The highlights are the tacos and the generously topped pizzas, which are gooey, delicious and as cheesy as the tunes you’ll be singing.
Post-brunch you can use the karaoke pods for free for one hour, though they fill up quickly, so put your name down early.
Book it for your next birthday and thank us later.
Dhs195 (soft drinks), Dhs295 (house beverages), Dhs350 (sparkling grape). 1pm-4pm. Grand Millennium Dubai, Barsha Heights (800 58259).
The big fat brunch at Lock, Stock & Barrel JBR – The Walk
Loud, lively and a whole lot of fun (with added sumo wrestling)
Deep-fried bar bites, an indie soundtrack and a rocking after-party, Lock, Stock & Barrel JBR – The Walk serves up the kind of mega afternoon out that’s absolutely befitting of its grungy, souped-up divebar image.
Oh, and there’s sumo wrestling in the middle of it all. Because, well, why not?
But before you enter the ring and step into a giant plastic outfit to pound your brunching pals in the chops, take a perch and soak up the scene.
If you prefer to ease yourself in gently over a few plates of Buffalo wings, flatbreads and battered sausages (yes, really), nab a seat in the bar’s semi-outdoor section. But it’s not long before you’ll find the whole place filling up, and the cavernous indoor area only gets livelier as the day goes on. Which, we’d imagine, has something to do with the mixed drinks served in miniature bathtubs, complete with miniature rubber ducks.
Linger on past 4pm and you’ll be rewarded with a barnstorming live music set from the likes of local band Big Mouth, while post-brunchers from across the city pour in from other outlets to continue their big Friday out.
And what a big Friday it’s going to be. You’d better be ready.
