The Agency - NO LONGER
Multiple-award winner that ticks all the boxes for an excellent grape bar
There’s a reason this long-standing Madinat haunt has won Time Out Dubai’s Best Grape Bar gong at Music & Nightlife Awards two years in a row.
Firstly, it serves a huge range of drinks, many of them very reasonably priced indeed. Then there are the excellent deals it puts on throughout the week. King among them is the daily happy hour that serves up glasses from Dhs25 and selected bottles from just Dhs100, and the Steak It Easy deal on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, featuring a steak with truffle fries and a glass of red grape for just Dhs150.
But what really keeps us going back time and again is its terrace. In a city filled with sprawling, flash outdoor nightspots, The Agency’s tiny, low-key sliver of balcony is a delightfully intimate spot, perfect for all imaginable occasions, from a post-work gossip to an anniversary date with your other half, bubbly in hand. And the uninterrupted views of the Burj Al Arab don’t hurt a jot either.
A winner in every way.
Open Sat-Wed 2pm-1am; Thu-Fri 2pm-midnight. Souk Madinat Jumeirah, Umm Suqeim (04 366 5845).
Trendy DIFC bar that’s ideal for a post-work wind-down
DIFC might not strike you as a relaxed place for an after-work drink where you can put the office and your day’s endeavours behind you. But then you probably haven’t been to BOCA.
In this informal, yet high-end restaurant and bar, not only will you get a stunning bit of dinner, you’ll also get to hang out in a lively bar. It’s a cool little hangout, which opens out to a terrace outside, making it feel big, bright and like the place you really want be in cooler weather. With lots of seats around the bar, it feels like a welcoming spot to sink back in of an evening, but only if you’re lucky enough to be on one of them later in the night when it gets busy. And it does.
So put the office behind you and have a chilled one at BOCA.

Casual grape bar that does a top-notch ladies’ night, too
Since opening in 2008, Oeno has filled a gap in the New Dubai market for grape bars, and continues to do so today. Its popularity is never more evident than on Tuesday nights, when ladies’ night takes over and it’s not unusual to find that every table in the house is reserved.
Though the smart, high-ceilinged setting isn’t completely without appeal, it’s undoubtedly the brilliant deals that keeps punters pouring in.
Tuesdays sees women offered three free drinks, or unlimited mixed drinks and nibbles for Dhs60. Gents can get involved too, with a happy hour and unlimited nibbles for Dhs60.
With huge variety and regular deals, you won’t leave disappointed.
