Dubai’s newest bars and nightlife spots 2019

Arriving in the place of JLT’s now defunct East London hangout Axe House, Hoxton is promising many of the same larks and frolics for which its predecessor became a firm favourite. So you can expect an almost identical look and feel to the old House of Axe – in fact, it’s pretty much exactly the same, so yay. So we’re looking forward to more of the same daily deals, late-night happy hours,
ladies’ nights and more
Open daily noon-2am. Armada BlueBay Hotel, Cluster P, JLT (04 395 8888).

Mama Zonia

Another new arrival is this Amazonian jungle-inspired bar and restaurant, which has taken the place of long-standing Pier 7 spot, O Cacti. You’ll be greeted by a huge mango tree at this Marina newbie, as well as plenty of foliage, vibrant colours and, of course, those stunning Dubai Marina views. There’s an interesting mixed drinks menu, plenty of Latino bites and a buzzing vibe, making it worth a visit.
Open daily noon-2am. Pier 7, Dubai Marina (04 240 4747).

The return of this classic bar in Downtown Dubai has been long-awaited and much-anticipated, and you need to go and explore it immediately. Housed in Address Downtown Dubai, NEOS is found up on the 63rd floor, now open after nearly three years on from it’s closure. Swanky mixed drinks are paired with magnificent views of the Burj Khalifa and Dubai Fountain, and prices aren’t as eye-watering as you’d expect.
Open daily 5pm-2.30pm. Address Downtown, Downtown Dubai (04 888 3444).

If you’re after a truly smashing time (literally), then a traditional Greek taverna that indulges in plenty of dancing and plate throwing is for you. The latest arrival in Fairmont Dubai is OPA, which is based on classic Greco entertainment, dining and bar culture. And, like a couple of other spots on this list, there’s plenty of foliage to brighten up the space. This spot has all the makings of an fun night out.
Open daily 7pm-2am. Fairmont Dubai, Sheikh Zayed Road (04 357 0557).

The Duck Hook

Grabbing a pie and a pint at the 19th hole has never been easier, because this new pub at the equally new Dubai Hills Golf Club has arrived. Based on traditional country pursuits and long walks in the shires of England, we’re also expecting some proper pub grub. It’s sure to be a popular spot to have a pint of hops and celebrate (or commiserate) a round.
Open Sun-Thu noon-midnight, Fri-Sat noon-1am. Dubai Hills Golf Club, Dubai Hills Estate (04 432 3232).

The London Project
This is perhaps one of the more eagerly anticipated arrivals we’ve seen in the city for some time, and it’s landed at another one of the city’s most eagerly anticipated developments. Located at Bluewaters island, The London Project is, in essence, dedicated to the artistic and cultural side of the English capital city. Inspired by London’s affinity with art, music and fashion, the restaurant and bar promises a mish-mash of cultures – we’re particular fans of the juniper beverage bar, which serves up an interesting range of innovative mixed drinks. The terrace boasts stunning views back across to The Beach and JBR and it’s also based in the shadow of the Ain Dubai and all its biggest-ferris-wheel-in-the-world glory.
Open Sun-Wed 5pm-2am, Thu-Sat 11am-2am. Bluewaters island (04 580 8570).

Drai’s Dubai
Technically not a new opening, but it is a brand-new club. This Meydan hotspot has abandoned its beach club ways, ditched the swimming pool and transformed into a late-night club, with a big stage and big acts promised.
Open Fri 10pm-4am. Meydan Racecourse, Nad Al Sheba (052 388 8857).
