There’s an absolutely massive night of comedy coming to Dubai, with several of the UK’s biggest names on the stand-up comedy set to hit the stage of Dubai Opera in June.
There are some excellent names coming to town, spearheaded by famed comedian and star of beloved UK TV show QI Alan Davies headlining the night, which is taking place on Friday June 14.
Having won countless awards for his comedy and acting stills, Davies has run a number of sold-out tours across the UK, a season in the UK’s West End, and of course, 16 years on the long-running QI alongside Stephen Fry.
Alongside Davies’ quick-witted, irreverent comedy style is the hugely respected Welsh comedian Rhys James, who’s appeared on a number of the UK’s top comedy shows including Mock the Week, while also having writing credits on shows like Russell Howard’s Good News (the host of which we met back in 2017) and 8 Out of 10 Cats. Also on the bill is 22 year old Tom Lucy who’s been a regular at The Comedy Store in London, and was awarded the Best New Comedian award at Edinburgh Fringe in 2017.
The whole thing will be hosted by the hilarious, scathing and brilliantly original Jarred Christmas, who’s bringing his New Zealand tongue-in-cheek style to Dubai Opera as compere.
Tickets are on sale now with prices starting from Dhs150, but you can get your hands on an early-bird discount of 20 percent on VIP and platinum tickets until Thursday April 25.
Comedy is properly in the spotlight at the moment, with international comedy star Russell Peters confirmed to open the brand-new Coca-Cola Arena in June.
We also recently spoke to local comedian Ali Al Sayed and founder of The Laughter Factory Gail Clough about the UAE’s comedy scene, and why it can be a force for good.
