Not only the best rooftop bar in Dubai, this is THE best bar in town full stop. Big DJ nights every Thursday ease into a chilled out Saturday ladies’ day poolside brunch. There’s award-winning bar food served every day of the week, and The Penthouse is also home to the Best Ladies’ Night from last year’s awards which offers up a handful of free drinks every Tuesday. But it’s all about them views – the most visitor-friendly vistas in Dubai, which help us unleash our inner tourist, too.
Open Sat-Wed noon-3am, Thu-Fri noon-5am. FIVE Palm Jumeirah Dubai (052 900 4868).
Lock, Stock & Barrel JBR – The Walk
A former winner of this category, this enormous bar in JBR is still going strong thanks to its industrial vibes, brilliant daily happy hour, pool tables, two-floors, live music, sports screens and top-quality bar food. If you’re after indoor vibes, there’s nowhere better.
Open Mon-Thu 4pm-3am, Fri 1pm-3am, Sat-Sun 2pm-3am. Rixos Premium Dubai, JBR (04 392 7120).
This giant complex burst its way on to the nightlife scene at the end of 2017 and picked up our Best New Nightlife Venue award at 2018’s awards. Now it’s a bona fide heavyweight of the Dubai scene. It’s got a stunning interior, intriguing layout, water features, multiple bars and live DJs and music on throughout the week.
Open daily 7pm-3am. Meydan Racecourse, Nad Al Sheba (052 388 8849).
This bar never, ever, stops being popular. For days by the beach, for pints while watching the match, for big nights under the stars and for mid-summer under-the-dome brunching, it has it all.
Open Sat-Wed 10am-1am, Thu-Fri 10am-2.30am. Le Méridien Dubai Mina Seyahi Beach Resort & Marina, Al Sufouh (04 318 1313).
BARBARY Deli & Cocktail Club
A swanky mixed drinks bar in Barsha Heights that’s perennially busy at the end of the week and really kicks off once everyone’s clocked out for work. Try one of the inventive mixed drinks or, lest we forget, the Babybel croquettes.
Open Sat-Wed 5pm-2am, Thu-Fri 5pm-3am. TRYP by Wyndham Dubai, Barsha Heights (04 247 6688).
folly by Nick & Scott
A mainstay at the Souk Madinat Jumeirah, mainly due to its impressive mixed drinks and it’s absolutely stonking views of the Burj Al Arab. Multi-tiered bars that put the emphasis on sitting outside and whiling away evenings in glorious surroundings.
Open Mon-Fri noon-11pm, Sat-Sun noon-2am. Souk Madinat Jumeirah, Umm Suqeim (04 430 8535).
A charming, stylish and swanky rooftop bar in Business Bay that lends views of the Burj Khalifa – but doesn’t rely on them. You’ll also find a top drinks menu, live music most nights and a party vibe.
Open daily 5pm-3am. The Oberoi, Business Bay (056 951 1442).
Luna Sky Bar
Let’s be honest, being a rooftop bar in Dubai means pretty much one thing: you have to have Burj Khalifa views. For that reason, Luna Sky Bar gets a big fat tick from us when looking to impress loved ones during visitor season.
Open daily 5pm-3am. Four Seasons Hotel Dubai International Financial Centre, DIFC (04 506 0000).
Riotous fun is in store at this bar where practically anything goes. It’s loud, it’s shouty, it’s incredibly fun and it doesn’t take itself seriously in the slightest bit. The after-brunch party is cracking, too.
Open daily 11am-3am. Media One Hotel, Dubai Media City (04 420 7489).
Low-level rooftop party vibes arrive at this Business Bay hangout late in the evening, but sundowner time gives you gorgeous views out over Dubai Water Canal and an open-air spot for mixed drinks, light bites and a swanky evening.
Open daily 6pm-3am. JW Marriott Marquis Dubai, Business Bay (056 775 4777).
