An old-school English pub in Dubai that’s just the most typical pub’s pub. It does the basics well, with reasonably priced drinks, bar sports and a bucket load of screens dotted about showing every big game of football. It's also the holder of Time Out Dubai's Best Pub Food award 2020, so get down here for some cracking grub.

Dhow & Anchor is a British gastropub in Dubai's Jumeirah Beach Hotel that makes you immediately breathe out a sigh of relief once you enter. How so? It’s bright and cheerful, serves up some of the heatiest British roasts around and screens live sports both indoors and on its easy breezy spacious outdoor terrace, which also boasts super views of Burj Al Arab. A staple pub in Dubai we’re always happy to head over to, and so should you.

A longstanding entry when it comes to Dubai's best pubs. A real cubby-hole taken straight from Ireland, Fibbers really isn’t ‘Dubai’s Best Kept Secret’ anymore – even if it was, it shouldn’t be. Live sports, a cosy vibe and decent deals are standard here, but it’s the little touches such as the live Irish folk tunes, Irish pints and all-day breakfast that truly make this cosy Dubai pub stand out. The food is top-notch too, plus there's often live music and comedy, which helps to make it one of the best pubs in Dubai.
Open daily 8am-2am. Saeed Tower One, World Trade Center Area, www.fibbersdubai.com (04 332 2400).
JLT’s Irish institute never fails to draw in the crowds thanks to its massive space – inside and out. And, the atmosphere only intensifies when there’s a big match on, pre- or post-brunch, during big party events or during gigs. So, basically all the time, and it has fantastic pub grub to boot.
Open Sun-Fri noon-3am, Sat 11am-3am. Bonnington Jumeirah Lakes Towers, Cluster J, JLT, www.mcgettigans.com/jlt (04 356 0470).
It’s not often we come across a pub as family-friendly (and pet-friendly) as Reform Social & Grill, but this Dubai instiution that’s begging to be visited over the winter months takes it in its stride. Mum and dad can chill out in the garden and let the little ones go wild in the small playground, pub grub is on point and its filled to the brim with banter – what more could a person want?
Open daily 8am-midngiht. The Lakes www.reformsocialgrill.ae (04 454 2638).
Sure, this traditional British pub may have a few clichés, but those British pub staples – Sunday roasts, pints and big tellies – are what make The Rose & Crown at The Atrium shine. Boasting of eight big screens including a projector for those in need to watch the big game, this pub oozes with that homely feel, lively and all.
Open daily 11am-2am. The Atrium, Al Habtoor City, www.roseandcrowndubai.com (04 437 0022).
There are two parts to this pub: the classic, nooks-and-crannies, dark wood-lined bar with manual pumps and a big screen showing the match, and the shinier, newer bit that has bar sports and tellies. It’s a old Iriah haunt that gets a whole bunch right for sports fans and those looking for a buzzing bar vibe. You won’t find a night when it isn’t jam-packed.
Open daily noon-2am. Le Méridien Dubai Hotel & Conference Centre, Airport Road, www.thedubliners-dubai.com (04 702 2455).
Whatever the formula, The Irish Village has cracked it – or should that be craiced it – and that’s why it’s a multiple past winner of our Pub of the Year award. It’s one of those rare bars that’s universally loved by every single person who visits, thanks to its sprawling and unique venue, right down to the authentic-looking bric-a-brac shop. So, you know, get down there.
Open Sat-Wed 9am-1am, Thu-Fri 9am-2am. Garhoud, www.theirishvillage.com (04 282 4750).
The third branch of The Irish Village stands up to the reputation the original one set, thanks to an enormous outdoor screen, price points and value for money, along with its hugely popular terrace boasting plenty of space and top views. Drawn by the relaxed atmosphere, breezy outdoor terrace and much-loved menu of Irish Village staples, this Irish Village in Studio City is a must-visit in our books.
Open Sat-Wed noon-1am, Thu-Fri noon-2am. Studio One, Dubai Studio City, theirishvillage.com (04 241 8444).
It’s the home of Manchester United supporters in Dubai, so if you’re a fan then make this your go to spot. But, even if you’re not, it’s a fabulous haunt worth having a pint (or two) in. And during match days it gets busy, so expect a bustling vibe. There are plenty of deals, including a two-for-one happy hour from 5pm until 8pm.
Open daily noon-3am. Metropolitan Hotel, Sheikh Zayed Road, metropolitanhoteldubai.com/restaurant/the-red-lion (04 343 0000).
