The Stables

A sports bar themed around all things horses and saddles

It isn’t often we talk about how a pint should be pulled, it’s a simple action that we see regulary. However, after our smooth first sip at The Stables, it springs to mind how much some places need to up their game. Each pint at this quirky bar just behind Sheikh Zayed Road is beautifully chilled and expertly poured. And it’s a pleasant surprise.

The Stables might not be somewhere you’d stumble upon, but if you’re after a laid-back pint in the area it’s a decent choice.

The bar has a warm and cosy feel, if not a tad peculiar with paintings of stallions galloping across a beach and saddles placed on banisters, but we’ll go with the theme, and that’s what makes this bar stand out from others in the area. That’s as close as it gets to actual stables (which is a bit of a shame, although probably a good thing that there’s not straw strewn about the place).

Drinks come relatively cheap during happy hour, which runs every day from 4pm until 8pm. Ranging from Dhs30 for hops and Dhs32 for grape and mixed beverages, you’ll find the house grape is generously poured, making it an even better deal. There are also three ladies’ nights a week – Monday, Wednesday and Friday, at the latter of which you’ll get unlimited free drinks.

While some may like pumping tunes to get them in the partying mood for the rest of the night, volumes can get a bit loud if you’re looking to watch the match on the venues multiple big screens.

The live band is decent though and plays upbeat tunes to liven the vibe.

It’s not fancy, but for decent value drinks in a laid-back spot, you’d do worse than The Stables.
