Hops for dhs21. That’s pretty much all you need to know when it comes to reasons for going to Barrels. In this city, it’s not uncommon to find hordes of thirsty expats gathering in bars across Dubai, wincing in unison as the bartender calls out the price (punishment) for ordering a round. However, in Barrels, it’s not uncommon to find well-watered expats grinning in delight while ordering pints for less than they did back home.
And, that’s where Barrels comes into its own. It harks back to those unpolished pubs from where we used to roam. The dark, smoky wooden rooms where the bartender knows your name, getting a round in for your mates won’t leave you teetering on the edge of bankruptcy and you’re not on your own if you’re, well, drinking alone. Here, it’s perfectly acceptable. Just pull up a stool, dig into a varied bowl of nuts (not just the usual salty peanuts suspects here) and enjoy that Dhs21 pint. It’s available during the dailly noon to 8pm happy hour.
Décor is all wooden furniture and sporting memorabilia on the walls, while there are a dozen screens beaming out sport. You can settle scores with mates at the pool tables (free during happy hour) or darts. More into using your opposable thumbs? There’s a PlayStation, complete with enormous private screen.
This is a fun bar, with top deals and not a wince in sight.
