A laid-back beach bar at JBR

This chilled-out spot at JBR has long been a popular seaside bar to relax with a pint and your mates. Set just off the beach at JBR, visit in the day to enjoy the ocean views and holiday vibes.

Wavebreaker has seen better days, however, with furnishings on the shabby side, especially compared to some of the slicker locations nearby.

And drinks aren’t cheap – at around Dhs50 for a pint or glass of grape and Dhs60 and above for mixed beverages. There’s no happy hour at weekends, either, which means drinks can soon rack up. Head here in the week however, and you’ll get two-for-one on house drinks from 5pm until 8pm for a better value sundowner.

The menu is focused more on full dining, with plenty of main courses, grills, hot dogs, seafood etc, and there’s a petite bar snacks list, including crispy shrimp and chicken wings, which are decent enough to nibble on if you’re not after a full meal.

There’s a large outdoor TV screen, which in winter makes for a decent spot to watch the match al fresco, in a more chilled-out environment than some busier bars.

The vibe is laid-back and holiday-esque, with most of the patrons being Hilton guests. But with slow service, pricey drinks and stiff competition in the area, there are better bars around.
