Toro + Ko

Cool tapas bar in City Walk from two top chefs

When The Coca-Cola Arena opened this summer, bars in the area rubbed their hands in glee. And rightly so, as with the big names bands come thirsty fans looking for a pre-concert drink, or a post-gig pit-stop.

One place that has done well for itself is Toro + Ko. Although this bar is cool at the best of times, it comes into its own on shownights, thanks to a pre- and post-show happy hour.

It serves up tasty tapas dishes in its split-level venue, with the main restaurant and smaller bar downstairs and a larger bar upstairs. In the latter there are a mix of high tables and loungy sofas and its all very dark, moodily lit and trendy.

The Spanish restaurant and bar comes from acclaimed US chefs Ken Oringer and Jamie Bissonnette so while you’re there you should absolutely order some tapas as it’s authentic and tasty. Try the patatas bravas, spicy little cubes of potatoes adorned with dollops of punchy garlic mayo and zingy tomato sauce.

The drinks menu is interesting, with a decent choice of Spanish grape and lengthy lists of both juniper and Scottish shorts. Plus prices are keen, with a daily happy hour from 4pm until 8pm where selected drinks are between Dhs18 and Dhs29.

For a fun Spanish bar with tasty tapas and a large drinks menu, check this out if you’re in City Walk.
