Black Goose

A modern bar along the JBR strip

Pubgoers in JBR aren’t short of choices when looking for a pint, but when Black Goose opened late last year, it brought yet another top option to the area.

Black Goose is similar to another bar in the area in terms of kit-out – all hanging filament lights and wooden panels and a cute terrace area. It’s industrial-cool, and has a fun vibe, especially on nights where live sport is being shown or live music is playing.

Sit on the terrace when the weather allows and soak up the holiday feels, as you can see out to the hotel pool and lush green gardens.

The Sheraton is one of the oldest hotels on the JBR strip, and while the lobby feels a little dated, step through the doors of Black Goose and you’ll be welcomed into a modern, friendly gastropub.

The bar is housed on the ground floor of the hotel and boasts a large variety of hops, with hops from Asia, Europe and America, with a special

Belgian list. Prices are around Dhs40 to Dhs50, while mixed drinks come in at around Dhs65. House grape starts at Dhs42.

But visit between 5pm and 8pm from Saturday to Thursday and you’ll get buy one, get one free on select drinks. Ladies’ night falls on a Tuesday where the deal serves up unlimited sliders and drinks for Dhs89 from 5pm until 11pm.

There’s range of US grub on offer too, with highlights including massive burgers and grills as well as a skillet brownie that’s not to be missed.

There’s an outdoor kitchen, which is a little odd but an interesting touch, so if you’re dining al fresco you can see your meal being cooked.

With cool interiors, a charming terrace and decent deals, Black Goose is well worth your time.
