Time Out Says
With palm trees adorned with sparkling fairy lights, private cabanas perfect for lounging in lining the long pool, and colourful flowers hanging all around, it’s not hard to imagine you’re lazing at a Floridian pool bar rather
than being (possibly) yards from your office.
The décor hasn’t changed much except for some foliage and a new screen separating the bar and pool area. The main alteration we can establish is the music, this helps with the (admittedly slightly weak) Miami theme. The night starts off with soft Cuban music that gradually becomes more upbeat.
With a daily happy hour from 5pm to 8pm (and all day on Saturdays) you’d expect this place to be packed ,but it’s quiet when we visit. Selected mixed drinks, glasses of grape and bottles of hops are Dhs30 during this time, as are wraps, salads and flatbreads.
However, they wouldn’t be worth the full price tag (of up to Dhs69), anyway. The grilled vegetables on the flatbread are more raw than cooked and have little to no flavour. The Coco tabbouleh fares better with spicy chicken skewers and salad mixed with pineapple, but it’s still not worth the lengthy wait.
With a prime location, good drinks deals and even a pool to dive into if you arrive before 7pm, with a few tweaks Coco Lounge could be a great spot, it just needs to iron things out to attract more customers and a better vibe.
The bottom line
Has potential but falling short in some areas.
