Time Out Says
We do wonder why Morgan’s didn’t extend the existing name (JB’s 2.0 perhaps?) to confirm its identity to Dubai’s pubgoers.
And on first impression, the bar seems almost like a cookie-cutter template of the JBR original (and its sibling Hamilton’s in Abu Dhabi). As well as similar urban-style décor, you’ll find the exact same (top-notch) pub grub menu and familiar laid-back vibes.
It’s perhaps because of said copy-and-paste approach that Morgan’s actually serves something of a niche by being one of very few high-end gastropubs in this part of town, which appears to be very welcome, judging by the crowd.
And there are some decent deals to attract punters, too.
Morgan’s happens to have the same ladies’ night as its elder sibling, with four free drinks being offered to ladies on both Thursday night and Friday night from 8pm until 11pm.
It is for that precise reason that this bar starts to get busier – a lot busier – as the evening wears on, so head here early if you’re looking to get a prime spot.
There’s also a daily happy hour from 5pm until 8pm with selected house drinks including hops and mixed drinks from just Dhs25.
On our visit the vibe is pleasantly buzzing. We sit comfortably on our high stools, with patrons flocking to the bar with increasing velocity throughout the evening.
The DJ plays an eclectic mix of hits from yesteryear and yesterday, and you’ll spend a large part of your evening naming that tune.
There’s a range of mixed drinks, some impressive juniper variations, and a food menu crammed full of British pub classics –including that famous metre-long sausage.
That alone should be enough of a reason to draw you into this swanky gastropub but if not, the funky design, cool tunes and decent drinks deals will.
