Time Out Says
Welcome to The Hatch – a pop-up club located in the engine room (seven metres underwater) in the historic Queen Elizabeth 2 cruise ship – which is now a floating hotel in Deira.
Unlikely location aside, you’ll find one of Dubai’s coolest underground spots with a focus on house, techno and electronic music at this hot new club.
Making your way down the stairs to the petite space there’s raw and industrial feel to it. You don’t really know what to expect, but you know that when you arrive, it’s going to be cool.
Forget the glitz and glam of the nightlife scene here in the city – this is as edgy as it gets, so if you’re on the hunt for plush secluded VIP areas and sparklers galore, you’re best heading to one of Dubai’s many super-clubs on your weekend instead.
The focal point at The Hatch is the music and the venue is now home to well-established events such as Deep Like and Plus Minus, as well as a series of pop-up events and DJ nights featuring a roster of top talent. It’s also worth adding it’s a non-smoking venue (with designated smoking areas) which is always a welcome addition.
And what’s more, it won’t break the bank. Depending on the night, entrance ranges from Dhs50 to Dhs100, and for some nights it’s even free, but make sure to pre-book in advance via the website – due to the compact space there’s limited availability.
If you’re serious about your house and techno music, this is one of the most authentic underground experiences you can find in Dubai.
Go ready to dance, let loose and make sure to leave any pretentions at the door.
