Time Out Says
We’ve said it before – this place is confusing. Is it a bar? Is it a restaurant? Is it a gastropub as it proclaims to be? We’re not sure, but it’s certainly the least pubby pub we’ve been to.
And the menu is even more so. Turkish? Check. Italian? Check. Erhm, sushi? Check. All bases are covered if you want to dine at Afterlife (and if you do, we can recommend the cheese pide, if you’re in a Middle Eastern mood).
But despite all that, if you’re looking for a drink in Souk Al Bahar it’s not all bad.
The moody, amber cave-like interiors, big red leather sofas, DJ booth and modern furnishings make it a weird mish-mash of genres (like the menu) but it’s quite quirky inside. But the terrace is where you want to be. The highlight of Afterlife is undoubtedly the location. The views are superb, will do wonders for your Instagram feed and if you have guests in town, it’s sure to impress.
Pair that with its midweek happy hour from 4pm until 7pm with two-for-one on select drinks (which will see you getting two glasses of house grape for Dhs40, which anywhere not least Souk Al Bahar is a bargain) there are worse places to enjoy the sunset, Fountain show and a discounted tipple.
WHAT IS IT...
Gastropub that isn’t really a gastropub
WHY GO...
Two drinks for Dhs40. In Souk Al Bahar. Enough said
