Ambar
A modern Arabic bar with stunning views

Time Out Says
There are several bars across the city that boast stunning views, but for a chic, cosy Middle Eastern spot that serves up some top views of Burj Al Arab Jumeirah, put Ambar on your list.
Set just off the lobby at the slick Jumeirah Al Naseem hotel, this bar has an intimate indoor area, but it’s the sprawling al fresco terrace that’s where it’s at.
Although Ambar is usually busy, so it’s worth booking, it’s not as packed as similar bars, so you’re likely to get a decent table to enjoy the prime views, too.
Ambar itself comes from the Arabic word for amber, the base of many Middle Eastern perfumes, so expect Middle Eastern influences throughout. Décor is shiny, bright and contemporary, with tinges of red, while outside has low-slung sofas decked out with traditional materials.
Described as a “modern Arabic mezze bar”, expect sharing dishes such as hummus, kibbeh, shawarma and more if you’re after a bar snack (though it’s on the pricey side for food).
Drinks, however, aren’t eye-wateringly expensive for the location, with house grape coming in at Dhs38 and bottles of hops from Dhs48. Mixed drinks, of which there’s a large and inventive list, are higher – sitting within the Dhs80-90 price bracket.
But visit from 5pm until 8pm every day and you’ll get 25 percent off, which makes it an ideal spot for sundowners.
The cosy ambiance makes it ideal for a chilled-out midweek date (that’s sure to impress your company), while the touristy location means it’s a top spot to take your visitors to, too.
Situated in a hotel with loads of excellent restaurants – including Time Out Dubai’s current Restaurant of the Year Il Borro, and Best Fine Dining Newcomer 2018 Flamingo Room – it’s also a good stop-off pre-dinner (again, take advantage of those happy hour deals).
It might not be the trendiest venue but with excellent views, a warm vibe and modern Arabian setting, it’s a top spot.
