Time Out Says
Being located near Dubai International Airport, Biggles Pub may not have the appeal of a traditional UK local, but it’s homely enough. Plus it has the added flair of having an al fresco setting with comfy sofas to lounge on, making the best of two worlds.
Housed in the Millennium Airport Hotel in Garhoud, this longstanding pub – which is remarkably more than two decades old – still draws in the crowds, and manages to muster up a certain charm that makes it worthwhile stopping by.
And if you do find yourself there, be prepared for the Air Force/military plane memorabilia scattered throughout venue – parachuting pilot dummy included (yes, it’s a teeny bit creepy). As it is, of course, based around fictional aircraft pilot Biggles.
It’s a niche setting, but get past that and you’ll find a decent enough pub. Sports fans, particularly football-lovers, will be thrilled by the large screens dotted throughout the place, and there’s a view of the television from any seat in its spacious venue. Even better, there are several booths that have personal screens, so you can watch what you want, in comfort.
A live band takes to the stage three nights a week, with a happy hour from 4pm until 8pm every Saturday to Tuesday where you’ll get 40 percent off drinks.
There’s also a ladies’ night on a Monday from 8pm until midnight with free-flowing drinks, as well as a Friday brunch that’s a wallet-friendly Dhs99 with two drinks and food.
It’s not on the cosy scale of pubs in Blighty, but for live football you’ll be happy.
