Time Out Says
The longstanding bar has faded a bit over the years, and it’s all a bit confusing. With global flags hanging around the bar and several big screens, it looks on first glance like a sports bar. The large, circular dark wood bar has prime views of the TVs, while there are several high tables dotted around. However, the majority of the space is taken up by dining tables, with chairs angled towards the bar and upholstered cushions. It’s a little odd. Out the back there’s a pool table (in a weirdly silent room).
There’s a happy hour from 4pm until 8pm, which is worth a visit. Pints of hops start from Dhs31, while grape and shorts are Dhs28. However, it’s not overpriced anytime, with house grape at Dhs41 usually.
Every Monday there’s a quiz night from 8.30pm, while Wednesdays are ladies’ nights, where women get two free drinks and 30 percent off the food menu, which includes everything from shepherd’s pie to salmon fillet.
It’s very quiet on our visit, and Carter’s just doesn’t seem to know what it is. It’s not bad, but there are better bars.
