Time Out Says
Ever since we heard Cove Beach was relocating to the new hotspot at Caesars Palace, we’ve been desperate to don our togas and get down there for some five-star sunning to see what all the fuss is about.
As you might expect from a newly-opened beach club, everything is pristine. Hammocks and swings are taken advantage of by Insta-happy revellers, while others lay snoozing on some sizable luxury cabanas.
We plan on just stopping by for a drink, but with a Dhs100 price tag attached for entry and one drink included, we decide to get our money’s worth and settle down at one of the poolside bars.
It doesn’t get off to a good start, with clueless staff who seem to know little about the food, or where to seat us.
After a bit of dithering we finally get a menu and settle in for a drinks and some snacks.
The atmosphere is buzzing though and the bar is busy, as is the pool area it overlooks, and on further inspection, the beach.
Expect plenty of strutting around and super-model types, which explains the limited menu (no-one wants a full belly for those Instagram poses).
The food is nice enough, if not a bit pricey for what you actually get. The sushi platters are fresh and flavour-packed, though the salads are lacking in substance and creativity.
As the sun begins to go down the party shows no signs of stopping, as pool-dwellers shake themselves off and move up to the bar area.
Drinks prices are pretty typical, with glasses of grape starting at Dhs55 and signature mixed drinks at around Dhs75.
Ladies should head here on a Wednesday for unlimited pink grape between noon and 5pm for just Dhs100 (which is the minimum spend on our weekend visit anyway).
You’ll also get your pick of house beverages and a food platter to enjoy from a complimentary sunbed (between dips in the three sparkling swimming pools).
Overall we like Cove Beach and for a pool day it’s a great deal, but it’s not probably not one to venture to for a quick drink – or without a full face of make-up.
