Time Out Says

You’re not exactly hard pressed for finding a decent bar in Garhoud. There’s an array of cool watering holes in the swathe of hotels in the area, while Time Out Dubai’s Pub of the Year, The Irish Village, is only a stone’s throw away.

D70 at the Millennium Airport Hotel is a swanky, but small, addition to the local area’s bar scene. It’s an intimate and classy but low-key bar that specialises in mixed drinks, Italian bubbly and has the USP of female-only bar staff.

We head along on a Wednesday night, and it’s fairly quiet. It’s not empty by any means, and its slightly quieter vibe actually settles us in nicely for a relaxing evening.

Taking a seat on the terrace, we’re treated to the sounds and sights of flowing fountains and a thoroughly pleasant al fresco experience. The happy hour is generous with two-for-one on reasonably priced mixed drinks, and there’s an extensive beverage menu besides – apart from the selection of Italian bubbly, the bar’s alleged speciality. There are one, or maybe two, varieties available, though. It’s no Thursday night hotspot, but it’s almost perfect for a refreshment, before heading off to eat.

The bottom line

A classy, intimate night spot.
