The first thing that will strike you about this recent addition to the Dubai pub scene is the total lack of smoking punters propped up at the bar.
Mr Toad’s is a rare beast in that non-smokers are the majority and perhaps that explains the joviality of the staff, enjoying the carbon monoxide-free environs.
The bar itself is a clean, neatly designed space with a separate dining area for those looking to take advantage of the multitude of tempting-sounding meal deals.
Sports fans will be right at home here, as there are screens positioned neatly behind the ramp or on the walls leading to the back room meaning that even if it’s rammed on match day, everyone should have an unobstructed view of the action.
Mr Toad’s has a nice selection of draught hops, with a choice of the old regulars and some rising stars you won’t find everywhere, along with a rotating craft offering. The hops garden meanwhile is a good size, with another screen for those who want to watch their team blow their title chances al fresco.
Although it isn’t exactly packed on our last visit – a Sunday night – you can tell it has potential, with its quiz night and live music another draw.
The bottom line Neat, clean bar with a welcoming team.
