If there’s one thing we love here, and we’re fairly sure our opinion is representative of many Dubai residents, it’s a terrace bar. Are there many better ways of spending a balmy evening than by listening to some funky, Balearic-inspired chilled beats and just kicking back on some low-slung seating and taking in some beautifully curated, artisanal mixed drinks?
We can’t think of any right now, and that’s why Flair No.5 is a great addition to Dubai’s nightlife scene. It has all of the aforementioned criteria in spades, and everything it does is done with, well, flair.
This sprawling bar has botanicals at its heart. Look around and you’ll see plant pots with fresh herbs dotted about, and a chat with our waiter reveals that this bar specialises in juniper beverages.
With 32 different juniper drinks from around the world, the bar staff will tell you which drink is ideal for your preference, and will also help to open your eyes to new and exotic variations. The red chilli and coriander mixed drink was one that really catches our eye.
While the bar has been open just a few weeks upon our visit, it’s understandable that the place isn’t completely full. But, it’s by no means dead, and as the sun descends the true vibe of this place really comes out.
Some atmospheric lighting, some groovy tunes and a healthy 7pm to 9pm happy hour that is designed to keep you here into the evening serves up select mixed drinks, hops and grape for Dhs35.
Private cabanas are available if you want to spend your evening with more exclusive company, and we can see this as a brilliant pre- and post-summer hangout once word gets out about how beautiful this bar is.
The bottom line
Laid-back al fresco atmosphere.
