Time Out Says
But this is Dubai. And this is DRIFT. So naturally the whole thing is a world away from lurid mixed drinks with paper umbrellas in them.
Perhaps the city’s chicest beach club, thanks to its low-key tone and more laid-back crowd, this spot at the upmarket One&Only Royal Mirage in Al Sufouh is the place you come to relax and unwind, rather than dance around the pool.
Service is attentive – and so it should be for the day entry price (around Dhs250), which doesn’t include credit back to use against food and drinks, unlike most beach clubs in the city.
They too are on the pricey side – possibly another reason the crowd here tends to be a little more mature, and a little less determined to Instagram every sun-kissed moment. (That said, there is a ready-made frame at one end of the swimming pool...)
The set up itself is stunning, and the venue is well-kept and feels classy. And the views across to Dubai Marina and over the Arabian Gulf are special too.
There’s a bar that specialises in French pink grape and restaurant area that serves up Mediterranean food (flatbreads, grilled fish et al) if you’re peckish.
If you’re not ready to commit to a full day, or a full meal at the restaurant, the venue is also a nifty spot for a drink at sunset, with a bar on the fringe of the beach, looking out to Ain Dubai and the skydivers circling overhead.
It may not be the ‘clubbiest’ of Dubai’s beach clubs, but if your jam is more chilled Balearic beats than thumping Europop remixes, you’ll be more than happy kicking back at this smooth spot.
