Club Se7en
Acrobatic dancers dressed in all manner of spangly and urban street-style costumes accompany the live band at this raucous Filipino club. One of the most well-put-together live shows you’ll find and an enthusiastic crowd to match.
Open daily 7pm-3am. Park Regis Kris Kin, Bur Dubai, (04 377 1210).

Kitakits Kafe & Klubb
More intimate than most, the long-standing house band belt out entirely un-ironic power-ballads seven nights a week, interspersed with hilarious Tagalog stand-up comedy (trust us, you don’t need to understand).
Open daily 6.30pm-3am. Marco Polo Hotel, Al Muteena Street, Deira, (04 272 0000).

Maharlika Café
Do Maharlika Café properly by ordering a pitcher of hops and a platter of their crispy Pinoy snacks. An adventurous combo best enjoyed as the Filipino band take to the stage for classic American tunes and modern Filipino pop-rock.
Open daily 7pm-3am. President Hotel, Trade Centre Road, Karama, (04 334 6565).

Manila 21
A live band, DJ, pool tables and karaoke amid lots of neon. There are some interesting snacks, plus a good selection of drinks deals.
Open daily 6pm-3am. Avenue Hotel, Al Rigga Road, Deira, (04 297 0808).

Marines Club
The fantastic house band here knows how to work a stage and belts out classics from the likes of AC/DC, Guns N’ Roses and Green Day.
Open daily 7pm-3am. Seaview Hotel, Mina Road, Bur Dubai, (04 355 8080).
