folly by Nick & Scott
Time Out Says
folly by Nick & Scott has the lot covered – and more besides. Set over multiple levels at Souk Madinat Jumeirah (filling the top level of what was once Rivington Grill), this bar and restaurant draws residents and tourists in their droves, thanks to its classy aesthetic, superb vistas and expert mixology.
All relaxed neutral shades and quirky ingredients, folly by Nick & Scott manages to be both understated and deeply trendy, with a bar bites menu to match (whatever you do, don’t leave without trying the guinea fowl sausage rolls – seriously).
Among the many kitsch elements of one of the city’s most established tourist destinations (Souk Madinat Jumeirah is themed around an old Arabian souk, after all), this upmarket spot stands out as a chic, gimmick-free place to while away a whole evening.
Staff are well-versed in the menu and offer suggestions based on your likes and dislikes. If you can’t find anything you fancy on the list, they’ll mix something up that you do.
And there aren’t many places of this top quality that you’ll get a six-hour happy hour deal, either.
folly’s offering runs from 3pm until 9pm every day, where you’ll get a range of house drinks – including those famous folly pops – at discounted prices, starting from a wallet-friendly Dhs25.
This chic rooftop bar also makes for a wonderful spot for a pre-dinner drink, and you absolutely should dine here, too, especially as it boasts the title of being our Best European Restaurant 2018. And the chefs have recently introduced some new dishes to the menu to tempt you further.
Now that we’re into October it’s the ideal time to visit, and whether you’re on holiday or just want to pretend you are, folly ticks all the boxes.
