Time Out Says

Sometimes just the name of a bar can evoke a warm sense of familiarity. Harry’s – formerly known as Harry’s Sports Bar –does exactly that. Returning here is almost like visiting an old friend.

Based in the heart of Deira in the Crowne Plaza, this cosy spot has plenty of the charm you’d expect in the older part of town.

The area might lack the glitz and youthful glamour of newer venues, but you never want to go too long without getting re-acquainted with Deira.

As soon as you enter Harry’s, the sports theme is strong. Tennis rackets and cricket bats hang from the walls, while striking pictures of sporting scenes hang proudly on display.

A lone pool table and just a smattering of TV screens, however, mean this might not your first port of call for catching up on sporting action.

But with welcoming staff, a laid-back atmosphere, a generous happy hour (Saturday-Thursday 3pm-8pm with nearly 40 percent off) and an extensive spread of bar snacks, Harry’s is an ideal spot to shoot some pool and catch up with mates.

This easy-going hangout isn’t going to wow you, but it’s just the place if you’re after a chilled out evening.

The bottom line
Laid-back bar that’s good for a catch up.
