Time Out Says
Perhaps slightly strangely, this seaside hotel bar at Softel Dubai The Palm Resort & Spa has the vast majority of its seating angled towards the coast (in a kind of theatre-style set-up). The coast is partially obscured by a row of hedges, but on a clear night you can marvel at views expanding out as far as the Burj Khalifa and Downtown Dubai.
Much about this bar feels like your quintessential Dubai beach bar experience, and that’s because, really, it sort of is.
There’s ambient, completely non-invasive house music that permeates throughout, which makes for a mellow vibe.
The smattering of punters (who are mostly hotel guests) dotted around this entirely al fresco bar are generally here for a chilled-out drink, a quiet natter and maybe a nibble from the bar bites menu largely populated with pan-Asian finger food and sushi.
The bar leans heavily on serving up a range of mixed drinks, which are well concocted but nothing out of the ordinary, while you’ll be spending on average Dhs65 per drink, so it’s not the cheapest spot you’ll find.
If you have brunch at the hotel on Friday or Saturday the bar hosts an after-party from 4pm to 8pm with one free drink for ladies, plus 50 percent off selected beverages, though.
The service is swift and it makes for a relaxed evening, but it’s not a bar many Dubai residents would travel out of their way to visit.
