Time Out Says
Housed in Caesars Palace, Laurel is pretty chilled-out and quiet, but the vibe is friendly.
Winter is when Laurel really comes into its own, thanks to its massive terrace overlooking the Arabian Gulf and hotel swimming pool. You can spend hours gazing out into the nothingness in the distance, and it’s an excellent place for sunset drinks.
However, in summer, huge glass doors keep you in the cool air-conditioning without having to compromise on the views.
The décor is chic and classic, with neutral tones. There are large, comfy sofas as well as high stools around the bar.
There’s an interesting mixed drinks menu, with creative concoctions using ingredients such as pear, jasmine, balsamic vinegar, bee pollen, aloe vera and the like. There’s also a small bar snack menu with indulgent dishes such as foie gras, Alaskan crab and caviar.
Drinks are around the price point you’d expect – with house grape starting at Dhs45 and shorts at around Dhs60. Though if you visit on a Saturday night from 6pm until 8pm you’ll get a deal on mixed drinks (at Dhs40) and oysters (Dhs10 apiece) to try, too.
It’s on the quiet side, but now Bluewaters Dubai is becoming a much more established spot, with bars and restaurants continually popping up, the beautiful views out to sea from Laurel mean this is a bar that’s sure to become busier as the year goes on.
