Le Petit Belge
Time Out Says
The original branch, in JLT’s Pullman Hotel & Residence, is more often than not completely packed, especially on a Wednesday, which is ladies’ day. A deal offers up unlimited free drinks all day from noon to midnight, so it’s not surprising it manages to have a strong following with local residents.
At JLT the vibe is good, the bar is buzzing and it’s a great place to get some tasty Belgian chips and mayo (or moules frites, if you’re looking for something more substantial).
So it’s with high expectations that we visit the newest outpost at the DoubleTree by Hilton Dubai – Business Bay. On arrival the bar it’s empty. And it’s still empty when we leave.
Sadly it’s not just the once we’ve tried it. Even on ladies’ night we are the sole patrons, excluding one other guest forelornly seated at the bar, most likely pondering why there’s no one here for the free drinks. And it’s a good question.
We stay for a while, as all the other boxes are ticked. There’s a wide range of Belgian hops on offer at the lengthy bar, there are some good deals, the large spacious room has shiny new furnishings and cool décor. There’s just no one there, to enjoy it and we can’t work out why.
Maybe the word’s not yet out and it’s hidden away location on the first floor of new the hotel isn’t helping, or maybe it’s just not the right area. However, it deserves some customers. And until they arrive there isn’t much to draw us back.
The bottom line
Good deals, decent place, no guests.
