Time Out Says
Dubai’s not short of rooftop bars. Those with a penchant for sky-high drinks and stunning views are spoilt for choice. However, Level 43 really is one of the best out there if you’re looking for a chilled-out-yet-fancy-spot with drinks prices that aren’t as lofty as the setting.
Perched high in the Four Points by Sheraton Sheikh Zayed Road (on the 43rd floor, as you’d guess), this bar is a prime spot for those visiting Downtown and the Trade Centre Area, so expect a range of tourists and suits.
The hotel might not be the first on your list to visit, but this bar is a must-try if you have visitors in town (or just fancy soaking in the views yourself).
The spacious outdoor terrace takes in vistas across the whole of the city – boasting views of the Burj Khalifa on one side and Burj Al Arab Jumeirah on the other. There’s also a small indoor area (mind the step) with the bar.
Level 43 is busy more often than not, so arrive early if you want to bag a prime spot. Seating comes in the form of comfy low sofas and high tables (with slightly precarious stools, be warned ladies in heels), but all afford the same stunning views.
It’s all clean and swish, and has an upmarket feel. The crowd is well-heeled, so it’s worth making an effort for.
Service is friendly and swift and there’s a bar snacks menu that focuses mainly on sushi, with a massive list of sashimi, maki rolls and bento boxes. There are more standard options – nachos, wings, satay and onion rings – if that’s what you’re looking for, but the vibe is less of the sports bar and more of the fancy.
Prices for drinks aren’t eye-wateringly expensive, either, given the setting, with house grape coming in at Dhs50 (which is, surprisingly, the same price as in the far less salubrious location of Charlie’s pub in the same hotel). Plus every Tuesday women get two free drinks.
There’s also a huge range of mixed drinks, all falling between Dhs70 and Dhs100, although we’re not sure we agree with the labelling of the “girls just wanna have fun” and “men’s night out” sections of drinks. Who says Scottish-based drinks aren’t for women or that a man isn’t after a fruity beverage?
That aside post-work or pre-dinner, this bar is a top option if you’re looking for a rooftop soirée that won’t break the bank.
