The longest bar in the Middle East still has charm

Long’s Bar may be best known for one thing (surprise, surprise – a fairly long bar) but that’s selling the venue short (ahem).

Long’s should better be known for its splendidly chic setting, comfortable ambience and lively nights out.

The peculiar part-sports-bar-part-club-style doesn’t seem to have been done on purpose, but works in its favour nevertheless. It may seem a tad cramped too, but there’s plenty of space for people to sit, especially at the bar, of course. And there’s even a dancefloor, for once the resident DJ’s music kicks in.

The “longest bar in the Middle East” (really? still?) certainly musters up a laid-back atmosphere – the kind of vibe that makes it easy to make new friends. And there are range of cracking deals, too. There’s a daily happy hour from noon until 8pm offering up a 30 percent discount on drinks, while there’s gents night every Sunday, too, with 25 percent off food and drink. Meanwhile on a Tuesday ladies get two free drinks, which isn’t the best deal in town, but it’s not the most glam location for a women’s night anyway.

The crowd isn’t a young one, but there’s a warm, friendly vibe that will make you want to return to this long-standing spot.

The bottom line
Dubai’s trusty bar still has appeal.
