Time Out Says
But it seems news of this cool new opening has failed to reach many Dubai residents, as when we head there the bar is very quiet. Inside, we’re greeted by pumping music from a DJ at the back of the room and lighting engulfing the walls in pretty patterns that feel at odds with the distinct lack of a party.
Luckily for us, the strobe lighting offers us a good view of the interiors — both floors are Aztec-themed, and feel authentically Latin American, with none of the tacky ornaments you might find at other restaurants (there’s not a cactus in sight).
Service is (unsurprisingly) quick and the staff are friendly and happy to chat away to you. Mixed drinks start at Dhs60, which, while not the worst we’ve seen in Dubai, are steep considering there’s not much vibe. It’s a shame as the restaurant downstairs serves up tasty Mexican fare.
And for now you’re best off sticking to that.
