Time Out Says
Yes – it’s back, and the spectacular vantage point is better than ever. The popular bar opened its doors once again last month after a near-on two-year hiatus while the Address Downtown under went a refurb post-fire damage. And if you’re after sundowners while taking in views of the Burj Khalifa and Dubai Fountain, you won’t get much better than this.
The layout will remain familiar to those who have visited before, but with a slicker, fresher feel. The floor-to-ceiling windows allow for some of the best views in the city, and there’s happily no minimum spend.
And prices aren’t eye-wateringly expensive either. Mixed drinks start from Dhs60-70 (although run all the way up to Dhs2,600 for the most elaborate), though a glass of grape starts from Dhs55, which is far more reasonable than you’ll find at many outlets with lesser views.
NEOS has also reopened with a daily happy hour from 5pm to 8pm, which offers 50 percent off both drinks and bar bites, including a number of small plates for sharing (or scoffing all to yourself while your date’s distracted by the view).
We perch at a window table and nibble bar snacks, stopping every 30 minutes to press our faces to the glass and watch the fountain show below.
Our “oohs” and “aahs” never dull in their enthusiasm (despite having seen the show countless times), and other patrons seem just as impressed, judging by the gathering by the panes.
And when you can manage to tear yourself away from the windows, the décor of the bar is also pretty special.
The art deco-inspired interiors were designed by New York design firm Meyer Davis, with an open plan bar that’s spacious and modern.
When the time comes to call it a night, we’re enchanted by what has been a really special evening.
NEOS is a bar that really makes you appreciate the spectacular city that we live in. Don’t miss this one, whether you’ve lived here for years or are just visiting.
