There’s a brand new sports bar in Dubai – and Time Out Dubai’s had an exclusive first look behind the scenes.
Trophy Room opens at Fairmont Dubai today (Monday June 11) and looks like a top new spot for sports fans.
It’s also opened just in time for the 2018 World Cup, which kicks off this Thursday.
Trophy Room has TVs lining the main bar area, large screens dotted around the venue and a master screen made up of nine individual screens at one end.
With a trophy cabinet, low-slung seating and an exposed ceiling that gives the place a classy-yet-industrial edge, Trophy Room looks set to be a top place to catch the game.
And the menu looks exciting, too, starring, among other interesting dishes, gold-dusted chicken nuggets.
Coming in at Dhs180, they’re not the average bar snack, but are sure to be hit. You get four of the shimmering delights on your plate, plus a choice of three dipping sauces – Danish blue cheese, black pepper ranch and ranch.
There’s a whole host of interesting items on the menu, including black truffle poutine (Dhs39) with cheddar, veal bacon and blue cheese, and cornflake chicken strips (Dhs46).
There’s also a “build-your-own” with loaded nachos, chicken wings and cheesy fries as well as a “Burger Nation” list with black bean, Portabello, salmon and classic beef patty options starting at Dhs60.
The swanky new bar is promising some top promotions too – including the self-proclaimed “longest happy hour on Sheikh Zayed Road” as well as ladies’ nights.
When the Premier League starts again in August, a new offer will run for selected games, which will see the price of drinks reduced by five percent every time a goal is scored.
Trophy Room is set to be joined by a second new opening this year, The House Party Bar (think red cups, arcade games, pizza et al), meaning this Sheikh Zayed Road hotel looks set to be an even more happening nightspot.
The House Party Bar – a concept originally from London – is arriving in the place of Cirque Le Soir, which we're told will still exist, but will be relocated to a new space, separated by an entrance accessible from the new arrival. We've been told Cirque Le Soir will be kept the same in terms of its concept, but will become more of a "VIP club". Rest assured, the performances will continue.
Meanwhile Catch Dubai has closed its doors permanently, which is a blow for fish fans.
Our Best Seafood Restaurant 2017, the trendy restaurant, which arrived in the city in 2015 by way of New York, had a cool, urban vibe, with exposed brickwork and deep leather seats.
We’re promised a “funky” new concept to fill the spot – which lies next to Bistrot Bagatelle – but no more information has been revealed yet.
We'll see you at Fairmont Dubai this summer.
