Time Out Says
The original branch of the sports bar, after a second one opened in Dubai Marina in 2017, attracts a large crowd despite sitting inside the often deserted Souk Manzil in Downtown Dubai.
The space is a mix of high tables and stools, leather-seated booths and flat screen TVs beaming out an array of different sports.
As a former winner of our Best Sports Bar gong, it’s a decent place to catch the latest match – from NBA to the Premier League – although it’s not as popular as it once was.
The walls give endless nods to the Antipodean and Saffer spirit that runs through the bar – with jerseys and photos from the three nations’ two biggest sports, rugby and cricket, everywhere.
If you’re after some grub from the lands down under though, you’ll be disappointed. We grab a table next to a huge framed Springbok jersey and eye up the menu for famous tastes from the nations. But instead of boerewors or crayfish the menu is packed with a confused mix of American and uninspired pub fare.
But drinks aren’t overpriced and every Sunday men can enjoy a burger and four beverages for Dhs120 while they watch the match. Meanwhile ladies get three free drinks when ordering a main on a Tuesday.
Not a bad spot to watch the sport if you’re in the area.
