Time Out Says
Pull up a stool at the well-stocked bar and watch the mixologists at work, or choose to sit in one of the cosy lounge tables, if you’re after something a little more intimate.
Lighting is dim and moody, and sets the tone for an upmarket evening ahead.
Drinks are, as you’d expect, on the (very) pricey side at this restaurant from world-famous Japanese chef Nobu Matsuhisa, so it’s not a place to settle in for more than a couple. But as you’re there you should try one of the inventive mixed drinks, which are expertly prepared.
Although it can on times feel a little stilted, at weekends the bar is bustling with pre-dinner date-nighters and the vibe is buzzing, in the most sophisticated of ways.
There’s also a popular ladies’ night, Mondays’ Nobu Noir night, which sees a mixed crowd turn out every week for three free mixed drinks – including the restaurant’s signature lychee concoction.
There are also tapas-style bites available to order from a limited menu for around Dhs30, if you want to try the famous restaurant’s cuisine without forking out for the full meal experience.
Although unlikely to be a bar you’ll head to if you’re not dining at Nobu, if you are, make time to have a drink.
