Is there anything better than being at a rooftop bar with stunning views across Dubai? We can’t think of many, and happily, a visit to Estrellas will give you incredible views of Downtown and Business Bay.
Located in Port Rashid, this bar has everything you could want – amazing views, pool, ladies night and even a glass floor for those brave enough to look down.
If you’re visiting midweek it often gets busy, especially on a Wednesday, which is ladies’ night, where women get two free drinks. There’s also a daily happy hour from 7pm to 9pm, with drinks at Dhs30, which also explains the bustle.
The bar is incredibly busy on our visit, so we don’t get a seat immediately, however, the waiters are good on their promise and let us know as soon as a table becomes available. We sit back and take in the panoramic views.
If you get peckish there’s an extensive food menu ranging from bar snacks to curries and steaks – you certainly won’t go hungry here.
In a city packed with trendy rooftop locations, this might not be first on your list, however, if you’re in the area, we recommend you pop in. You won’t be disappointed with Estrellas Rooftop Lounge.
The bottom line
Top views and a cool vibe. Worth a visit.
What a view. That’s the first thing you’ll think when you walk into the Four Seasons’ stunning rooftop lounge. (Well, maybe, if your first thought wasn’t “Why have a swing seat and stick a sign on it saying, ‘No swinging’?”).
Other thoughts are likely to include “Gosh, this grape is actually quite reasonably priced considering I’m staring right at the Burj Khalifa from the roof of a five-star beach resort” and “Please can I move in?”.
This is a truly beautiful spot, with a great open space for mingling while taking in the Dubai skyline, alongside cosier, more secluded seating areas that offer a little more privacy (and optional shisha).
Though Mercury tends to get busier later in the evening, don’t pass up the chance to soak up the scene early, particularly closer towards summer, when you’ll be able to watch the sunset reflected back at you from Sheikh Zayed Road’s skyscrapers.
A great spot for visitors (and anyone pretending to be one).

Stylish rooftop with super views.
You’d expect a bar in Media City to be packed on a Thursday evening, and you’d be right. We visit Tamanya Terrace at the end of the working week and the post-office crowd are ready to shake off the stresses of the week – quite literally.
The happy hour in ICON bar downstairs (6pm-8pm) gets patrons in the party mood, and by the time darkness falls, ties are loosened as Tamanya Terrace’s visitors bust out some moves to the 90s RnB that blasts out to our absolute and unabashed delight.
On our visit to the rooftop venue, the tent (encasing glorious air-con) is still up, but on our travels from the lift to the bar, we cast our eyes across Media City to a lovely view of the sea. During the cooler months the cover is taken down and you can enjoy the breeze while you boogie.
There’s a real club vibe in Tamanya, and when we leave on the cusp of midnight, the night shows no signs of slowing down.
If you’re after a more low-key after-work drink, then head up while the night is still young for a laid back lounge feel, or earlier in the week, when you can kick back on some of the comfy sofas. We’ll see you there.

Wear your dancing shoes and leave those ties at the office.
This huge outdoor super-club has set the benchmark high for nights out in Dubai, which other venues in the city are no match for.
Its spectacular light shows and 360° panoramic views of the city are the least of it. WHITE brings out the big guns month after month, booking some of the world’s biggest stars to perform live at its regular events.
You can pack yourself in with the crowd and scream along to Rita Ora or dance to Armin van Buuren in front of the stage, but there are plenty of VIP areas, too, for those who like their club nights to be a little more velvet-roped and exclusive.
This setting easily caters to both without sacrificing on atmosphere. Its sheer scale isn’t at the expense of a good deal, either. The club’s Tuesday ladies’ night offers not only unlimited drinks, but also unlimited sushi from 10pm until 12.30am – not to the mention the fact that it had a five-week takeover from none other than Tinie Tempah.
WHITE is exclusive, but not overly so, and the atmosphere on any given night is nothing short of electrifying. Head here for your next big shindig.
The bottom line
A must-try-it-more-than-once experience.
