Pierre's Bistro & Bar
Time Out Says
You can’t swing a unicorn in this city for coming up against a flock of fake flamingos.
Pierre’s Bistro & Bar is the latest to adopt the summery motif du jour for its jungle garden-style bar, which is establishing itself as a destination distinct from the restaurant itself.
And with views of Dubai Festival City’s light and water show from an expansive outdoor terrace (upon which drinks may be consumed), it’s certainly making a good start.
Mixed drinks – classic and created especially for the bar – are the focus here, and it’s only fitting to plump for something fruity while you perch beneath the dangling foliage. It’s a space that feels cool without being too contrived, the vibrant plant greens offset by dusky pinks, greys and purples, and minimalist marble-topped tables.
Prices, as you might expected from a venue birthed by a Michelin star-collecting chef, are on the steep side, with the cheapest house concoction clocking in at Dhs65. Fortunately there’s a happy hour from 6.30pm until 8.30pm every Monday to Saturday, with selected drinks half price.
Ladies are luckier still – every Wednesday means unlimited free drinks from 8pm until 11.30pm at Mademoiselles’ Night, which also serves up a special set menu for Dhs159. It’s a snip considering a regular meal for two will set you back a good deal north of Dhs500 with drinks.
Throughout the rest of the week, Thursdays see the Bistro & Bar come into its own, though on school nights things can be a little quieter. If you’re looking for somewhere to slope off to for a sophisticated catch-up, there are few swankier options in Festival City – or indeed within a ten-minute drive.
And, it’s worth noting, literally none that will bring you a bowl of warm, savoury madeleines to go with your drinks. Now these are free bar nibbles worth getting in a flap about. Those flamingos won’t be the only ones tempted to set up a colony here.
