Casual sports bar on the Palm

Time Out Says

This petite sports bar sits above Porterhouse Steaks & Grills in Sofitel Dubai The Palm and thought has gone in to the décor.

A mix of low leather seating and barrels with high stools, there’s a relaxed feel – although it’s all shiny and new rather than a worn-in, authentic sports bar. There are sports jerseys on the walls and plenty of screens – including a big one for larger sports matches.

Come match time the place gets packed out – mainly with holidaymakers who are staying in the hotel. It doesn’t open until 4pm, but on days when big matches are on it opens early (such as during the Rugby World Cup) to make sure you don’t miss any of the action.

Drinks aren’t cheap however, you’re looking at Dhs50 for a glass of grape or hops and Dhs60 for a mixed drink, so it’ll set you back a fair chunk if you’re here for a while. However, there is a happy hour from 4pm until 8pm Sunday to Thursday if you’re watching the fils. From 4pm until 5pm, it’s 50 percent off, 5pm until 6pm 40 percent off, 6pm until 7pm 30 percent and 7pm until 8pm 20 percent, so it pays to get there early.

You’re unlikely to rush here if you’re not a hotel guest – but it’s not bad.
