Salero Tapas & Bodega
Time Out Says
Hidden away in the Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates, this is a decent spot for a post-shopping drink to rest your weary feet and catch up with your friends.
It’s not fancy, but it’s nice enough, with simple furnishings and some vibrant wall art. It’s on the bright side, though, especially for a place that’s named bodega, where you’d expect a moodier, cellar-esque feel.
If you like live Spanish music and flamenco, then make sure to visit on a Tuesday or a Wednesday night, where from 7.30pm until 10.30pm you’ll be able to catch live singing and dancing.
There’s also a ladies’ night every Tuesday from 8pm until 11pm, at which women can take advantage of three free drinks. You can also choose to have your beverages at the table while dining, as the deal isn’t restricted to the bar area, and you’ll get 30 percent off your order, too. Women have a choice from house grape or Spanish mixed beverages, and service is swift and friendly.
Salero is on the pricey side, although there are deals – such as three tapas for Dhs107 – so it’s not going to break the bank to have some nibbles (we recommend the croquetas). If you’re after something more substantial, there are paellas and main courses, too.
On our visit it’s a mix of couples and groups, and it’s busy, so it’s wise to book ahead.
With an upbeat vibe, live music and tasty snacks, this casual Spanish joint is worth a visit.
