Time Out Says
Everything is white and gleaming, the people are beautiful and the buzz is electric.
We’re surprised at how busy the venue is, given that it only launched in late December, but rather than being overwhelming, the excitable crowd only adds to the vibe – which is surprisingly far from pretentious.
For although it looks like it’s full of off-duty supermodels, everyone at Soho Garden seems to be having a good time without too much posing, while the atmosphere is pretty laid-back given the spectacular surroundings.
We visit on a Friday, where the “adult playground” is taken over weekly by famous Ibiza outpost Café Mambo, and we are so happy that we did. The music is top-notch and DJs spin out dancey techno beats that aren’t too heavy (no raving here, folks).
That’s not to say people aren’t dancing, and there is a grand terrace overlooking the main seating area where the lively bust out some energetic moves.
There are also plenty of tables, if you’re out for a more low-key evening and lots of bars dotted around the place.
The range of mixed drinks is extensive, costing what you’d probably expect to pay anywhere on a Friday night, and there is also a good selection of nibbles.
Speciality mixed drinks start at Dhs65 and we’re impressed by the speedy service at the packed bar. Draft hops starts at Dhs40, which seems reasonable given how swish the venue feels.
It’s hard not to get into the party spirit here, so if you do take a trot down to Meydan, be prepared to make it a late one.
The bottom line
A fresh new venue with a buzzing vibe.
