Time Out Says
Walk through the Mövenpick Hotel & Apartments’ dated lobby and up the stairs and you’ll happen across this friendly spot.
Recently revamped, it’s all very fresh and clean (possibly a little too clinical for a chilled-out pub) but it’s friendly enough.
Furnishings are as bright as the overhead lighting (they’d do well to find the dimmer switch) with comfy armchairs, which we settle into with ease.
The bar area itself, with dark woods and high stools, is more pubby, and if you’re looking to watch sport you’re in luck. There are loads of screens and you’re never going to be left craning your neck for a decent view.
There’s also a pool table (paid for, shame), which adds to the vibe of the place.
However, the happy hour is generous – offering up drinks including grape, short measures and hops for just Dhs26 from 3pm until 8pm every day. Otherwise expect to pay Dhs50 plus for a glass of grape or more than Dhs40 for a pint.
On our visit it’s quiet, but there’s a good variety of sports on telly.
It’s not the most buzzing bar to visit, but if you’re in the area for happy hour and a match you’d do worse – just don’t expect to be caught up by the atmosphere.
