Time Out Says
When this quirky spot burst onto the scene in Business Bay in 2016, we loved the relaxed setting and cool vibe. And it hasn’t waned over time.
It has, however, changed its menu slightly, and now offers up Thai street food, which is yet another reason to visit.
There are plenty of appetisers like the marinated chicken Gai satay that make for ace Asian bar snacks. Starters come in around Dhs40, while curries are about Dhs45, which is a great deal, especially with portion sizes.
Seeing it come from the colourful food truck set up on its street-yard inspired outside terrace is a fun touch. And it makes you feel like you’re on holiday, especially when sat on its very comfortable, lounge-style seats with the waterside views.
It makes for a laid-back fun evening if you’re looking to kick back with friends after work, or during a lazy weekend afternoon.
The place also runs special events including outdoor cinema nights, and the selection of drinks is varied and interesting.
Prices aren’t sky-high either. Glasses of house grape will set you back under Dhs50, while mixed drinks are around Dhs65. Bottles of hops also come in at under Dhs50.
Plus there’s a daily buy one, get one free happy hour deal from 4pm until 7pm, which is a decent saving.
The city offers plenty of places to while away your afternoons, but The Backyard should be on your list if you’re not looking for something too fancy.
Rock up in your favourite casual outfit, gather your mates and you’re good to go.
